Te Pihinga

This is a time when pēpi requires the individual attention of a key adult and the support of whānau to nurture and care for them.

Getting started

Te Pihinga Whakatipu

A new pēpi in the whānau is a time to celebrate. Sharing kōrero with other whānau members about experiences with their own tamariki at this stage, can really help new parents.  This can also help them decide what type of parent they want to be.  Listen to whānau tikanga for raising tamariki.

Pēpi learn through their five senses - give them lots of different things to see, hear, smell, touch and taste to help them learn about the world.
Keep in mind pēpi and the whānau are learning new things everyday. Kia kaha!

Whakatipu will support and awhi parents and whānau to give pēpi the best start.
