Pakiwaitara
Why are stories so important? Because they are a way for us to connect with our tūpuna and hear how they nurtured pēpi and whānau.
Pakiwaitara - getting started
Myths and legends are often stories of origins, how the world and everything in it came to be. They are an important part of cultural identity. Māori have many myths and legends which help to explain human behaviours and their replationship with te ao Māori.
Storytelling

All ages and abilities can tell stories. You just need to use a bit of imagination and to be able to listen and speak. Storytelling encourages everyone to express themselves too. It is a nurturing way to remind whānau and tamariki that their spoken words are powerful.
Here are few more stories for your kete. Maybe you and your whānau have your own pakiwaitara to share with pēpi.
