Supporting parents around you
Helping a mum or dad can be as easy as making a cup of tea.
Sometimes the best way to support a parent is to just listen. Being a parent can be hard going at times, and some mums and dads just need to talk it through with someone they know. Here are some other ideas to try, if you think a friend, colleague or neighbour needs some support or help:
- take a ready-cooked meal around to a family with a new baby
- donate clothes or toys that are in good condition to a family with younger children
- look after the children while a parent goes to the supermarket
- offer to return library books
SKIP resources can be a good way to start a conversation about parenting. You can often find these in community centres and supermarkets. Or you can order them directly from us.
