Quick holiday tips

Some tips for making the holidays a fun and memorable time for the whole family.

It's summer, it's warm - so the weatherman keeps promising. Do lots of outside things with your kids. It'll wear you all out so you sleep soundly and recharge your batteries for doing it all again tomorrow. The telly could be turned around to face the wall and only be plugged in during emergencies, such as very high winds or Christmas eating exhaustion.

Plan ahead. Who is going to get up early after a late night? This is not a decision to make when the baby cries and you got to bed 20 minutes ago. You could plan ahead even more and go to bed before midnight, sober. You'll have amazing bounce in the morning and your kids will love you for it.

Christmas holidays are memory creators. What do you want your children to remember? The biggest plastic toy they've ever seen - or a cricket match at the beach when they bowled their uncle Kevin out for a duck? Or the first fish they ever gutted? Or singing the family song? Or licking the beaters when you make the cake?

Enjoy this time - kids grow up and leave home in the blink of an eye.

Merry holidays
